As a baby Mary was rocked to sleep on her grandfather’s gentle rental horses.
As a young adult she wanted to help the horse feel as safe as they made her feel back then. Drawn to supporting horses in need, she became involved in the early Extreme Mustang Makeovers. Success in those events led to her first Mustang partner being immortalized as a Breyer Model Horse, her work being featured in Horse & Rider, Horse Illustrated, Western Horseman and on National Geographic television, and opportunities to share her relationship-based clinics & freestyles across the country at expos such as: The Liberty Festival, Breyerfest and Equine Affaire.
Inspired to help more wild horses in need, Mary founded non-profit, I AM HERD Mustang Sanctuary. Presently home to 25 wild ones, as well as Mary’s 2-legged family, which includes her husband/best friend (Mike) and their three wildly creative daughters (Filleigh, Sorrael Lyn, and Mira Sol).
Mary presently offers relationship-based clinics for humans that want to join her in the ever-evolving journey of becoming a better horse-listener, always turning to the horse as our teacher. www.iamherd.org
“I grew up on horses that took care of my well-being and now it is my life’s work to support their own. I could not think of a more congruent group than the HHRF to collaborate with on this mission.”
