Helena Harris
Aiken, SC — August 31, 2026 — Helena Harris, a Master of Science graduate in Animal Welfare and Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (PennVet), now offers comprehensive behavior assessment and training support for sport and pleasure horses, donkeys, and mules in Aiken county.
Helena’s graduate work at PennVet, and ongoing research, focuses on equine behavior through the analysis of horses’ emotional states, cognitive abilities, and overall quality of life. Combining her academic training in applied animal behavior science with the everyday realities of horse training, Harris’ skillset is unique in the equestrian community, and valuable to anyone handling, training, or treating horses.
When an owner or trainer experiences some kind of undesired behavior in a horse, whether that’s difficulty standing for the vet, a training challenge, or even common stable vices, Helena can help decipher the behavior and develop a modification plan that’s beneficial for both horse and human.
“Modern equine science gives us abundant evidence that horses learn best when their needs as a species are met, and when they understand the job at hand,” Harris said. “My goal is to bring existing and emerging research directly to the barns in Aiken (and beyond), helping owners and riders continue to develop healthy behaviors in their horses.”
